Me and You and a Dog Named Boo, and Two Cats Too

In the same era as Cat Stevens’ “Moon Shadow” from yesterday, we go to a top ten song from 1971 that you are probably familiar with. It’s on my mind this morning because Eliot has been behind again on his hair cuts and is getting a spring shave down today. I need to get better on staying non top of his mane before it starts to matt up. In truth, we’re just going to have to get him on a regular schedule so it doesn’t get put off.

Boo is one of his many nicknames, along with Bear, Bug Bear, Bubby, and Muppet. The other two fur balls in the house are Oscar who is about the same age as Eliot (2 years) and the veteran, 15-year old Milton who tolerates the youngsters as best he can.

I imagine Roland Kent Lavoie’s life became a bit easier after he became known as just Lobo, which is Spanish for wolf, not to be confused with the Lobo of DC Comics. His music certainly became well known and loved. This song hit number five in the US top 100, charted in the UK and helped lead him toward popularity in New Zealand and Southeast Asia as well. He may not be traveling and living off the land these days, but he’s still out there at 81 years of age, and hopefully still singing.

Walking on Sunshine

Before Eliot’s walk this morning, I asked him what the Song of the Day should be.

He said, “Walk.”

“Ooh, good idea,” I said, “But which walk? ‘Walk Like an Egyptian?’ ‘Walk Like a Man?’”

He gazed out the window at this Tuesday morning sunshine and said. “Ruff!”

Dog

Yes! The best topic ever is the title of today’s SOTD. And this lovely pair of doggos you see in the photo are best buddies. Well, sometimes I think Blossom just tolerates her bigger, but younger “uncle,” Eliot. Blossom is my youngest son’s pup. She’s twice his age, and he’s an 18-month old giant in comparison. He’s a 60lb Goldendoodle, and she’s a 15lb Dachshund-Black Lab mix. Yes, you read that right. I don’t know how this happened, but let’s not dwell on that.

Blossom and Micah came to visit two weeks ago and had lots more time than usual to play and visit. She even seemed to enjoy our morning feeding and walk routines, complete with music and dancing in the kitchen. What she enjoyed less, significantly less was her big cousin-uncle-friend sniffing her butt all the time! Still, they stick together like siblings. When Micah and I got out of the car for a few minutes (yes, windows cracked, and not on a hot day) and got back in, we found that Blossom somehow got out of her car seat and snuggled up to her big buddy.

The pup in the videos below looks almost like a mini, more curly version of Eliot. Micah got me listening to Nataly Dawn years back, and when I shared her music with my best buddy, Joel, he said, “Wow, she sounds a lot like Pomplamoose. Turns out that’s because Pomplamoose is the band Nataly has with her husband, Jack Conte, who is co-founder of the Patreon website. But that’s a story for another day. To give you the full Nataly treatment, I’ve included a song from the husband and wife duo originally done back in 1973 by a Scottish band called Steelers Wheel.

I hope all you pups are enjoying the weekend!
